One Lamp
Scented candles · Identity and gift packaging
01Background
One Lamp (Yizhan, “a single lamp” in Chinese) is a hand-poured soy candle brand from Suzhou. It wanted to enter the year-end gifting season at the 300 to 500 RMB price point. The founder had a few scents and a rough idea of the name, and not much more.
02My role
Starting from how the name should look, I designed the logo, labels, gift box structure, scent cards and matchbox, and followed two suppliers through proofing and production.
03Process
- 1
Drawing the name as a lamp
In the Chinese name, I compressed the upper part of the second character vertically, and its lower part now looks like a tray, so the whole glyph reads as a lamp being held up. Under gold foil it catches a little light.

Price point sets the method
The box uses one black soft-touch paper and a single foil pass. The budget went to the tissue inside and the frosted glass jar, so the unboxing feels a tier above the price.

Three scents, three ambers
The labels shift from pale amber to deep amber across the three scents, with no extra pattern. Lined up together, they look like a row of lamps at different brightness.
